The Visconti Homo Sapiens is handmade from hardened basaltic lava sourced from Mount Etna in Italy, creating a distinctive writing instrument with a unique connection to its volcanic origins. The lava is combined with resin to form a material that is exceptionally durable, comfortable, and warm to the touch. Its slightly hygroscopic properties allow the material to absorb moisture from the writer’s hand, providing a comfortable grip during extended writing sessions.

The pen features an all-black trim and Visconti’s patented Hook Safe Lock, a secure capping system designed to prevent the cap from accidentally unscrewing in a pocket or bag. Its vacuum Power Filler is constructed with titanium for excellent resistance to ink corrosion, while the oversized black 14k gold nib completes the pen’s monochromatic design.
