Switchman Pen Company Bottled Ink (35ml) - The Silver Zephyr: Founder's Gray

Few trains are as iconically American as the streamlined Zephyrs of the American midwest. From the Pioneer Zephyr which began its runs in 1934 to the 1971 termination of service for the Nebraska Zephyr, these silver trains were THE vision of America's rails and were featured in films and television, in advertisements and fiction. The Silver Zephyr, or Founder's Gray, is Switchman's ode to these trains and to its honorary founder, John Ferdinand McGhee II (grandfather and great-grandfather to Switchman's founders), who worked for as a switchman on the famed Milwaukee Road just north of the Chicago-based CB&Q Railway (or "The Burlington") which operated the Zephyrs. The roiling blue-gray hues hinted with purple give Founder's Gray the look of storm clouds reflected in the silver skins of those iconic trains as they coursed their route from Chicago to Omaha and back again through the windswept midwestern plains.

Switchman inks prioritize dry speed over permanence and will dry rapidly even when used in very wet pens. They will resist feathering on highly absorbent papers (printer paper, for example) and are tuned to minimize dry-in while still within pens. Switchman inks shade beautifully and many boast color variation the more thickly they are applied.
