The Sailor King of Pens Maki-e Ukiyo-e “Horibe Yahei Kanemaru” pays tribute to one of the most celebrated figures in Japanese history through the exceptional artistry of traditional Maki-e craftsmanship. Inspired by the work of Edo-period ukiyo-e master Utagawa Kuniyoshi, this limited edition fountain pen depicts Horibe Yahei Kanemaru, one of the legendary Forty-Seven Ronin of Ako. At seventy-seven years old, Kanemaru was the eldest member of the loyal retainers who carried out the historic vendetta immortalized in the Chushingura tale, earning lasting recognition as a symbol of unwavering loyalty and courage.

Each pen is meticulously handcrafted using the traditional Maki-e technique, with intricate artwork individually applied by skilled artisans. The substantial ebonite body provides the warmth, balance, and durability prized by collectors, while showcasing the depth and detail of the design.

At its heart is Sailor’s renowned King of Pens 21K Gold nib, finished with elegant bi-color plating and handcrafted at Sailor’s factory in Kure, Hiroshima. Oversized and exceptionally responsive, the nib delivers the smooth, expressive writing experience that has made the King of Pens series a benchmark among luxury fountain pens.

Presented in a finely crafted Paulownia wood box, the Sailor King of Pens Maki-e Ukiyo-e “Horibe Yahei Kanemaru” is a remarkable fusion of Japanese history, traditional artistry, and writing excellence, created for collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate the highest levels of craftsmanship.
