Copper Metal Nib
Designed by Yamazaki Hayato, a designer at Kuramae-based ALLOY, this pen tip features an unprecedented design that was arrived at after repeated trial and error. The rounded tip and meticulous polishing have resulted in a writing experience so smooth it's hard to believe it's made of metal.
Copper is prone to aging when exposed to air. When you receive your pen, it may have a slight reddish tinge or spots, but it will still be usable for writing. As a soft metal, the nib will gradually become rounder, the lines will become thicker, and the writing experience will become smoother. Enjoy watching the changes in your pen as it grows. Please see below for additional care instructions.
The desire to create a durable and handy nib led to the creation of a metal nib. By rounding the tip and polishing it carefully, it achieves a smooth writing feel that you won't believe it is made of metal. It is a world standard design that can be used not only with Kakimori penholders but also with many other penholders. You can write thin lines and letters, or draw thick lines by tilting.
Precautions for use
- Hold it at an angle of 45 degrees and write.
- When removing the metal nib from the pen holder, pull it out slowly while turning it. If you pull it out vigorously, the parts of the insertion port may come off.
- Because it is made with precision, the ink may not come out easily if you give it a strong impact.
- If the ink accumulated in the grooves dries up, it will be difficult to remove, so please wash it frequently with water.
- If hardened ink is difficult to remove, rub gently with a soft toothbrush and wash with water.
- When using detergent, please use a neutral detergent. Do not use alkaline detergents as they will adversely affect the surface.
Care for Copper and Brass Nibs
Brass and copper are materials that change over time. The more you use them, the deeper and more beautiful their texture becomes. However, they are sensitive to moisture and humidity, and can rust and discolor excessively. If they get wet, be sure to wipe them thoroughly.
After using a brass or copper metal nib, remove it from the pen barrel and store it away. If you leave it inserted in the pen barrel, the metal nib's insertion part may rust, making it difficult to insert or remove. Please note that a rusty nib may affect the writing experience.
