The Conklin Pen Company is recognized as being one of the first companies to add the feature of true mobility to daily writing. The Duragraph model was launched in 1923 and was soon considered to be the definitive pen. The model name 'Duragraph' comes from the combination of the words 'durable' and 'graph' (from the Greek graphē which means 'writing'), and truly this pen lives up to its name as a durable writing instrument. Created to last as an heirloom to serve many generations, the Duragraph is offered with a lifetime guarantee and brings a fresh, modern style to the timeless oversize flat top design. The Duragraph PVD collection brings the timeless class of vintage to the modern day. Each writing instrument is covered with PVD coating over the pen's solid brass body, thus providing key performance features and giving additional vibrance, luster, and durability. PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) is a process that uses diverse thin film deposition techniques that focus on vaporizing a solid material in a vacuum environment, resulting in the deposition of a pure material coating onto the surface. This material coating is both appealing to the eye and extremely durable. It can reduce friction and serve as a barrier against any potential damage caused by the external environment or by usage of the product. Moreover, PVD coating is highly resistant to tarnishing and corrosion which makes it perfectly suitable to decorative finishes with colors that do not fade. Alluring Lapis blue-colored PVD creates a shiny mirror-like effect covering the PVD Blue pen's body and cap. The rose gold plating of the the PVD Blue pen deepens the rich, vibrant blue color of each pen. The Duragraph is substantial in size, yet it is not so large that it is unwieldy in the hand. The cap top is embellished with the Conklin Est. 1898 logo, and the cap band is engraved with the famous Duragraph model script with three Conklin crescent logos on either side of the model name. The cap top mounted clip allows the pen to sit low in the pocket, making this model a more practical choice for everyday use.
The fountain pen is available in a choice of nib grades and uses international cartridges or a converter (supplied). Each Conklin fine writing instrument is housed in a luxury gift presentation box lined with rich satin.
