The Hahoe mask from Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, is a wooden mask created in the middle of Goryeo period, designated as National Treasure No. 121. The Hahoe mask, crafted with exceptional techniques, expresses the joys and sorrows of human life.
Hahoe Mask ink is a brown ink, we attempted to capture the various expressions and textures of the Hahoe mask.
As the ink dries gradually on the traditional-feeling brown tones, areas where the ink is applied more thickly show the dual shading of gray and orange. It's as if the dual shading of the ink mirrors our own moments of joy and sorrow.
