Founded in 2007 as a collaboration between Draplin Design Company in Portland and Coudal Partners in Chicago, Field Notes draws inspiration from vintage agricultural notebooks once handed out by seed and farm equipment companies across the Midwest.

Each Field Notes notebook is designed, printed, and manufactured in the United States using high-quality materials. The brand is built on a deep appreciation for utility, simplicity, and American craftsmanship. Co-founder Aaron Draplin began by collecting and preserving vintage farm memo books, which became the foundation for the brand’s aesthetic and purpose.
