The Pilot Namiki 100th Anniversary Limited Edition Yukari Fountain Pen - The Seven Gods of Good Fortune Fuku-rokuju is available for order online and in-store at Dromgoole's.
Fuku-roku-ju was originally a Chinese Taoist god, said to be the incarnation of the South Pole star. His name comes from the three Chinese characters representing Taoism's three virtues: having many descendants (fuku), health (roku) and longevity (ju). Today, Fuku-roku-ju is worshipped as the god of popularity. This fountain pen is adorned with an image of Fuku-roku-ju with a high-domed head, long beard and large earlobes, holding a gem in his right hand. The scene depicted shows Fuku-roku-ju expressing his gratitude for the help of his companions, a crane and a turtle, who have brought him his precious cane and scroll.
As with all of Namiki's Seven Gods of Good Fortune fountain pens, Ebisu is crafted in Togidashi-Taka Maki-e (Burnished-Raised Maki-e) and comes in a bespoke wooden presentation box containing a limited edition bottled ink, a box of matching ink cartridges, and a leather pen holder. The lid of the box features as a laser engraving of Mt.Fuji and a treasure ship carrying the goods of good fortune.
For those who missed the 100th Anniversary Set released in 2018, the option to buy all seven pens, with matching numbers, in the Commemorative Collection is available and includes a Pawlownia wood box to safely store them. The price is $33,600. If you are interested, please contact Larry or Michael Dromgoole as these sets are only available for as long as the individual pens have not already sold.
