Hobonichi 2023 A5 Cousin - Ichiro Yamaguchi: Hanataba No. 1 (English Version)

This striking cover features artwork of a bouquet of flowers we commissioned from painter Ichiro Yamaguchi especially for the Hobonichi Techo. What’s striking about Yamaguchi’s artworks are drawings of vibrant flowers and the use of dynamic animal motifs. This time, he drew a large bouquet of flowers for the Hobonichi Techo.

The drawing features simple black lines that contrast beautifully against the vibrant red colors and was composed by Yamaguchi himself and was created to fit the A5 Cousin size cover specially. Just carrying around this artwork of the oversized flowers will make you feel gorgeous.

The Hanataba series also comes in an A6 size cover for the Original and Planner and a Weeks book, but each artwork was individually created for each size. With all sizes, you can feel the texture that brings you joy as if you’re carrying around a painting.

The A6 size and A5 size covers uses silkscreen printing, which faithfully and intricately recreates the look of the original painting.

The Weeks book cover has been constructed as a light, hardcover book with some give to it so it still bends. The artwork is printed on a material with a canvas-like texture to capture the handdrawn feel and sparks joy like carrying around a piece of art.

This cover fits an A5 size Hobonichi Techo book. Made primarily of cotton, with a "butterfly stopper" that uses a pen to hold the cover shut. Painter Ichiro Yamaguchi was commissioned to create this image of a large flower bouquet. The original painting has been faithfully recreated through silkscreen printing.
